Improved skills in consumer
Be an informed consumer these days is more more difficult given all the various scams that we hear in the news, and all the slick advertising used by competing retailers everything for our dollars. Consider these tips so you will not be taken for your money.
* Protect yourself not rely entirely on others. While there are organizations of consumer protection there doing their job, you still do your part. Be wary of anything "too good to be true. " If you do not get satisfactory answers to your questions, say no.
* Do not do business with the lawyers to your door. There are honest sellers who go door to door, but it can be risky. You need the ability to make a thorough check of the first business.
* Be more selective when shopping, in terms of price and quality. Looking for the cheapest item can sometimes be a mistake. Cheap can mean poor quality materials. That's when being frugal can return. You may be better to spend a little more for certain things so you will not have to replace them as often.
* Read the fine print before signing. Make sure you understand and verify that is what the seller told you and what you agreed.
* Keep your personal information to yourself. This can not be stressed enough. Do give your Social Security number, credit card numbers, etc.. . . even if you are told it will be used for verification purposes.
* Beware of any request for payment in advance, either for work or employment. Legitimate companies do not require any money which must be paid before. May they require half the money they have to order specialized or custom materials. It is never required to pay for a job.
* Do not respond to letters or calls that you have won a prize and must pay to retrieve it.
* Avoid Work-at-home opportunities where you have to pay for instructions or a kit. These are just schemes to recover your money.
* Do not open e-mail messages from people you do not know. There are many scams designed by intelligent computer criminals simply waiting someone takes the bait.
